Kitchen Foil Coptic Stitch book at Ink About It in Westford MA

In this workshop you’ll transform ordinary kitchen foil into a gorgeous coptic stitch book that lays flat when opened.  You’ll spend the first part of the day creating the covers for your book and then after a short break for lunch you’ll assemble your book using a single needle coptic stitch technique.

Learn how to turn a humble paper bag into a gorgeous surface that looks like leather.  In this class you’ll transform a plain paper bag into a leather look alike surface and then turn it into a journal filled with blank pages,pockets and journaling tags.

April 14 &15,2012

Saturday:For our first day together we’ll spend the morning exploring several easy and fundamental drawing and sketching exercises.  These exercises are designed to help you translate the shapes of what you want to draw into actual images on your pages.  We’ll take a short break for lunch and then spend the afternoon working with watercolors in both pan,tube,crayon and pencil form.

Sunday:We’ll spend the first part of day two together painting paper.  Jane and Sue will demonstrate some fun and easy ways create a layer of color on your papers that can later be used as a base for collage or drawing over.  You’ll spend the morning spraying,scraping,brushing,sponging and dripping paint to create pages bursting with energy and color.  We’ll take a short break for lunch and then spend the afternoon making a hard cover book that you can fill with the papers you made in the morning.

Silk Fusion at The Fuller Craft Museum in Brockton MA

May 5 &6,2012

Silk fusion (sometimes referred to as silk paper) is easy and fun to make.   Made by treating layers of unspun silk fibers with a textile medium or stiffener it can be made in flat sheets resembling fabric which can be embellished with hand or machine stitching and incorporated into art quilts,wall hangings or used to create bags,boxes or other decorative items.  It can be also be molded into three-dimensional shapes such as vases,bowls and sculptural items.
